Department of Economics

About the Department

Department of Economics was started in the academic year 1974-1975 at U.G level with English and Tamil medium. In the year 1997-1998 it was promoted as P.G Department and recognized as a research department for both Part time and Full time. The Department has 416 U.G Students, 48 P.G Students, and 15 M.Phil Students.6 Ph.D Candidates are awarded and 10 candidates are doing Ph.D. the Spelization areas are Labour Economics, Environmental Economics and Economics in Social Sciences.

The number of books in the library is 1531.
